Unlock Your Potential

Overcome Your Problems

If you are motivated to improve your life in any way, then hypnotherapy is an option that will benefit you enormously. Below is a guide to the most frequently asked questions about hypnosis and hypnotherapy. If there are any uncovered questions or feel free to contact me.

Hypnosis is a natural, relaxed state of mind in which you have a higher level of focus and concentration. Hypnosis usually takes place with the guidance of a therapist using spoken words and suggested mental images. This state of increased concentration, with your mind open to suggestions, is part of the process of forming new habits and behavioural patterns.

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis and the mind’s own natural abilities to resolve issues, relieve emotional burdens, and achieve personal goals. It is a safe, natural and effective process which involves the client and therapist working together to bring about positive changes in how the client thinks, feels and acts. Hypnosis is not a therapy in itself, rather therapy is carried out in hypnosis

Symptoms are acquired over a long period of time and are activated by the subconscious mind, therefore they can only be deactivated by the subconscious mind and hypnosis works by giving access and the ability to communicate directly with the source of your problem. It is the only logical method of dealing with symptoms.

Hypnosis feels similar to daydreaming or to the feeling that you get right before falling asleep at night. The experience is not unusual or strange. Most people report feeling very relaxed and pleasantly lethargic. Many are surprised how familiar it feels to countless other moments in life, such as when you have been lost in thought, meditating, or even day dreaming. Your mind will be alert and open to suggestions it is receiving from the therapist. Your focus and concentration will be directly on your experience, as you take in the words you are hearing.

Apart from those suffering from a severe mental disability anyone can be hypnotized, but you must be willing to be hypnotized. If you are unwilling, hypnotism cannot be forced on you. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.

Yes, hypnotherapy is perfectly safe and most people would describe it as relaxing, empowering and enlightening. Hypnosis is a perfectly natural state that we experience multiple times during the day and it is a very powerful healing tool when used in a therapeutic setting.

Hypnosis is a state of mind that requires consent. You will always be in control and able to hear what is being said by the hypnotherapist. You cannot be made to do, say or believe anything against your will.

You will not be asleep. When you are in hypnosis you will experience feelings of calmness, peace and relaxation. Although your eyes may be closed, you will not be asleep. At no time will you be unaware of your surroundings, or lose any of your conscious awareness. In fact, the opposite happens – you become more focused and enter deeper layers of concentration.
The success of the experience depends on your willingness to change. If you do not have a real desire to change, or to improve certain areas of your life, then you will not be mentally prepared to accept suggestions for positive change. However, if you have a genuine, deep desire to change, you can look forward to a successful outcome.
The goal of hypnotherapy is to ensure that you get the best possible results. This can depend on the nature of the issues you want to resolve, the length of each therapy session and the number of sessions you may need. There is no rule of thumb way of predicting how long you will require therapy. But the good news is that most people feel benefits after the first session. Every client gets a unique programme and plan of action that will be mapped out in detail. In general, simpler problems like smoking, nail-biting, slimming and pre-test nerves usually require 2-4 sessions. The more deep-rooted nervous disorders require Hypno-Analytical Therapy rather than Suggestion Therapy. A course of Hypno-Analytical Therapy takes between 8-12 weekly sessions. Sessions usually last about 60 minutes. Programmes are solution-focused and not intended to be carried out over a long time-period.

The answer is virtually everyone. Given that hypnotherapy can be utilized to access a person’s inner resources and potential and added to the fact that very few are performing to their actual potential, the answer is literally true. However, it is not just potential which hypnotherapy is well placed to address but also one’s inner resources to effect beneficial change. In this regard, it is the innate healing capacity of our own bodies that may be stimulated by hypnotherapy. Consequently, the list of problems which may be amenable to hypnotherapy is far too long and varied to list.

I practice Suggestion Therapy and Analytical Therapy. Suggestion Therapy works well with the simpler issues – such as smoking, slimming, memory boosting and so on. This form of therapy usually requires 2-4 sessions. Analytical Therapy or ‘Hypno-Analysis’ finds the root cause of deeper or more complex issues or symptoms and removes them, giving lasting relief to the client. Hypno-Analysis works on the doctrine of ‘Cause and Effect.’ Analysis reveals the cause of the issue and consequently relieves the effect or symptom which it has created in the mind and body. This course of therapy usually takes between 8-12 sessions.

Hypnotherapy works directly in communication with the subconscious mind. It is the storage place of memories, every experience, every word you have ever spoken or heard, and every emotion you have ever had. It prioritizes storage relative to the emotional intensity of an event, especially those that have caused fear or pain. The subconscious controls the function of every organ and cell in your body, and controls all habits and automatic thought patterns. The subconscious mind stores different beliefs that you accept about yourself and the world. Some of them are positive and empowering beliefs and other are negative limiting beliefs. It is usually very difficult to make changes through the conscious mind alone as the behavioural programme exists at a deep subconscious level. Since hypnosis works directly on the subconscious level of your mind it works faster, easier and more effectively to bring about positive permanent change. There is no reason why anyone should put up with issues inside themselves but outside their control. The use of conscious hypnosis dramatically speeds up the healing process. Similar results can be achieved in a few weeks as would be expected from a more ‘conventional’ 1000 hours of psychoanalysis.

Mind Healing

Power of Hypnotherapy

The subconscious mind causes symptoms; therefore, it is only the subconscious mind which can reverse them. Hypnotherapy has a scientifically proven track record to access the subconscious mind, to find and remove the root cause of issues, and to dissipate the effects while simultaneously providing solution focused suggestions for positive outcomes.
